Candi Staton is Unstoppable on New Mark Nevers-Produced Album

Unstoppable, a brand new album from Atlanta-based R&B veteran Candi Staton, was released August 24. It’s produced by Mark Nevers of the Nashville band Lambchop, who also oversaw 2009’s Who’s Hurting Now and 2006’s His Hands for the Southern soul singer.

Alongside six original tunes written or co-written by Staton, Unstoppable also finds her covering two bold, anthemic rock songs – Patti Smith’s “People Have the Power” and Nick Lowe’s “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding” – and a pair of lesser-known soul tracks – Tyrone Davis’ “Can I Change My Mind” and Norma Jenkins’ “I Fooled You (Didn’t I).”
