Leesburg, Georgia native Luke Bryan won the Entertainer of the Year award at this year’s 50th Academy of Country Music Awards, held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday night, April 19th. Bryan beat out Miranda Lambert, Garth Brooks and fellow Georgia-tied acts Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line in the category, the only award that was voted on by fans. Bryan, along with Blake Shelton, also hosted the show, which broke the record for the most attended live awards show of all time.
Neither Aldean nor Florida Georgia Line went home empty-handed, however. The former won for Male Vocalist of the Year, while the latter won the Vocal Duo of the Year award. Those two acts were also among many Georgians that performed live during the show, along with Thomas Rhett, Sam Hunt, Cole Swindell, Lady Antebellum and Alan Jackson.
