Black Tusk to Release Last Album Recorded with Founding Bassist

Savannah-based metal trio Black Tusk, whose founding bassist and vocalist Jonathan Athon died after a motorcycle accident there in November 2014, are releasing their final recordings with Athon. Pillars of Ash is set for release on January 29th via Philly-based Relapse Records, their label home since 2010.

The band has carried on since Athon’s tragic passing, and now features former Kylesa bassist Corey Barhorst, who’ll accompany them on their upcoming Southeastern tour in support of Pillars of Ash. The trek stops in Atlanta January 24th for a date at the EARL, and winds up back in Savannah Feb. 6th at the Jinx. Atlanta’s acclaimed Royal Thunder will open all dates.
