Banjo-B-Que Bringing Feel-Good Music to Metro Augusta

Fans of country, bluegrass, folk-rock, Americana and other twangy brands of American roots music, not to mention yummy barbeque, should consider attending Papa Joe’s Banjo-B-Que Music Festival in Evans, Georgia, near Augusta.

Now in its seventh year, the fest was created in 2010 to honor beloved local resident Joe Pond, who had recently passed away from cancer. His family created the Banjo-B-Que to not only bring together his favorite things – feel-good music, finger-lickin’ barbeque and a fun, family atmosphere – but also benefit the Joseph R. Pond Memorial Foundation, which funds local charitable organizations, with a special emphasis on cancer related programs.

The 2016 lineup includes big names such as Willie Nelson & Family, Old Crow Medicine Show, Steep Canyon Rangers and Blitzen Trapper, not to mention Georgia acts such as the Packway Handle Band and the Boo Hoo Ramblers. There’s also a barbeque cook-off, a craft beer garden, a petting zoo, pig races, a kids playground and more.

One-day, two-day and VIP tickets for the Memorial Day weekend event (Friday and Saturday, May 27th and 28th), along with band schedule, list of nearby hotels and other helpful information, are available at banjobque.com.
