Atlanta Synthpop Trio Shampoo To Release Debut Album

After forming three years ago, Atlanta trio Shampoo are releasing their debut album, Terrible Heat, on August 17th, presumably with further live shows to follow.

The minimalist synth-pop act – guitarist/vocalist Rush Myers, bassist Chandler Kelly and synth player Catherine Quesenberry – are said to have named themselves after a Chinese Amazon Ranma warrior and not necessarily the stuff you wash your hair with in the shower (or the 1975 Warren Beatty film). The drummerless combo (beats come from an iPod) are inspired by ’80s new wave, commercial pop, indie rock and high school, among other important things.
