Atlanta rapper Young Thug has released a new ten-song mixtape titled Jeffery. The digital release was accompanied by a wave of hype including reports that Thugga was changing his stage name to Jeffery (he was born Jeffery Lamar Williams in Atlanta in 1991). That particular bit of false news proved to be just part of the promotional campaign.
Jeffery, released through 300/Atlantic Records, features a handful of guest shots from fellow Atlanta rappers including Gucci Mane, Young Scooter, and Quavo and Offset from Migos, as well as Wyclef Jean who guests on the track “Kanye West,” but not on the track “Wyclef Jean,” which doesn’t feature Kanye West either. Got it? Good! Producers and co-writers on Jeffery include Atlantans TM 88 (Bryan Simmons), Wheezy, Cassius Jay and the studio collective Billboard Hitmakers (Big John, E-Dubb, Johnny Bravo, Lo-Deezy and Attitude).
