Atlanta Musician, Manager and Publicist John Brand Dies

John Brand – vocalist, pianist, composer and leader of the eclectic 1990s Atlanta band Belloluna – has died following a sudden heart attack.

Brand made his initial mark on Atlanta’s music scene as manager of the rock band The Ellen James Society, who released a pair of albums for Amy Ray’s Daemon Records in the early ‘90s. Brand was also the longtime publicist for the indie label, spreading the word about countless bands, tours and releases to music journalists nationwide.

Belloluna (pictured, with Brand in the center) released two albums for Daemon: Pleasant Music for Nice People (1996) and Livid and Loving It (1999).
