Atlanta Hip-Hop Artist 6lack Releases Debut Album on Interscope

Atlanta hip-hop/R&B artist 6lack (pronounced “black”) had his debut album, Free 6lack, released via Interscope Records on November 18th. The album’s title makes reference to a bad deal 6lack made with an independent record label five years ago that left him unable to properly release his music until now. The album’s cover is an eye-catcher, for sure: a black & white shot of 6lack sitting at the edge of a bed next to an enormous grizzly bear. And yes, it’s real.

The 24-year-old (born Ricardo Valentine) is a native of Baltimore but has lived in Atlanta since he was a small child. He attended Valdosta State University, but left before graduating. Professionally, he’s repped by LoveRenaissance (LVRN), the Atlanta-based creative management and marketing agency that also represents Raury. Atlanta producer Singawd was behind the board for the majority of Free 6lack’s 11 tracks.
