AthFest is Getting a Downtown Mural for 20th Anniversary

To commemorate its 20th year, the AthFest Music & Arts Festival is partnering with Athens-based artist David Hale and the Lyndon House Arts Center for a large-scale public art mural project.

Hale – primarily a tattoo artist who created the 2013 AthFest CD and poster design – and the Lyndon House will work with local youth during classes that focus on the content and layout of the mural. The bulk of it will be created at the Lyndon House (located on the north edge of downtown Athens), and then installed in its permanent location on the outside wall of downtown clothing shop Philanthropy, at the corner of Pulaski and W. Washington Streets, where the main outdoor stage is situated during AthFest.

This year’s AthFest will take place June 24th through 26th throughout downtown Athens, with affiliated events beginning June 22nd.
