Three-year-old Athens-based “collective” Family and Friends will be releasing their second EP, XOXO, on July 17th.
The seven-member ensemble (Mike MacDonald, Casey Harper, Jamie Rios, Ryan Houchens, JP McKenzie, Tuna Fortuna and Maria Kindt) met and formed in 2012 at the University of Georgia and through the Athens music scene. They fuse organic folk and rock music with the tribal rhythms of dual drummers. All five of the songs on XOXO are originals.
With plans taking shape to record their first full-length album, the group continues to tour tirelessly, with a hometown show coming up on June 27th as they headline the Georgia Theatre as part of AthFest 2015.
