Avondale Estates, just east of Atlanta and Decatur, is hundreds of miles away from the nearest beach, but no matter, the beach will be as good as there on Saturday, September 16th when the Southern Surf StompFest returns to Little Tree Art Studios.
The free, all-ages, all-day event will showcase an assortment of surf, instrumental and rockabilly bands from around the South. Acts from Georgia will include The Mystery Men, El Capitan & the Reluctant Sadists, Caroline & the Ramblers and The Surge, joined by Tennessee’s Crazy Aces, Arkansas’ Reverburritos, North Carolina’s Out of Limits and more. There’ll also be an artists market, food trucks, beer/tiki drink vendors and games for kids.
If that’s not enough fun for ya, the night before (Friday, Sept. 15th), Trader Vic’s in downtown Atlanta will host a kickoff party featuring music from Aqualads (North Carolina), The Johnny Zoom Hi-Fi Show (Florida) and Dangling Tassels (Arkansas).
Little Tree Art Studios is located at 2834 Franklin Street in Avondale Estates, Georgia, while Trader Vic’s is at 255 Courtland Street in the downtown Atlanta Hilton hotel.
