2015 CMA Award Winners Include Many with Georgia Roots

Leesburg’s Luke Bryan won Entertainer of the Year at November 4th’s CMA Awards ceremony, while Florida Georgia Line took home the Vocal Duo of the Year trophy.

Meanwhile, Chris Stapleton’s Traveller, which won Album of the Year, was produced by onetime Georgian Dave Cobb (pictured), a Savannah native who played guitar and bass in the Atlanta-based “BritPop” band Tender Idols in the ‘90s. Onetime Macon resident Becky Fluke’s photos were used for Traveller’s cover. Stapleton, a Kentucky native, also won Best New Artist and Male Vocalist of the Year.

Song of the Year honors went to “Girl Crush,” the Little Big Town single written by Liz Rose, Lori McKenna and Hillary Lindsey, who grew up in Washington, Ga.
